Team Flow

Teams may start with Females opening weight on the bar. At the call of “3-2-1 GO!”, Female 1 and Female 2 will have 6 minutes for one athlete to obtain a 1 rep max snatch and for the other to obtain a 1 rep max clean and jerk.

At the end of the 6 minutes, all four team members will have 1 minute to transition from the female to the male barbell. During this time, the barbell may be preloaded with Male 1’s opening weight, but no lifting is allowed. Once the 1-minute transition is over, Male 1 and Male 2 will have 6 minutes for one athlete to obtain a 1 rep max snatch and for the other to obtain a 1 rep max clean and jerk.

*Score is the combined total weight lifted across all 4 lifts by the four team members.

Key Points for Teams

  • There will be a male and female bar available for use, and each gender is required to use their respective barbell. Athletes not actively working must remain in the starting box. Only the M or F athlete actively lifting is permitted on the platform. The second athlete is permitted in the vicinity near the platform, designated by the judge.
  • Only 1 bar may be loaded at a time. Female bars may be stripped down before their allotted time expires, however teams cannot begin loading the male bar until the transition minute has begun. Athletes are permitted to move up and down in weight as they choose.
  • One male/female athlete is designated for the clean and jerk, while the other male/female athlete is designated for the snatch. A single athlete may not perform both lifts for the score. Each athlete must complete their individual, assigned lift.
  • Athletes performing the snatch establish a weight, they are not permitted to return to the bar. Ex: Female 1 records a max snatch and Female 2 begins the clean and jerk. Female 1 is not permitted to attempt another snatch.
  • Once a lift is complete and noted as a good rep, athletes may continue adding weight and attempting lifts until time expires. Athletes actively in the lifting movement pattern as time expires are permitted to complete the lift.
  • If an athlete misses the jerk, but the barbell does not go to the floor (ex. stopping in the front rack), the athlete may reattempt the jerk from the front rack position.
  • Teammates may assist in loading weight. Collars must always be worn during lifts.

Standards

Clean: The rep begins with the barbell on the ground. The athlete will clean the bar in one motion to the front rack position using any clean style; power, squat, or split. The clean is complete when the athlete receives the bar in the front rack with the elbows clearly in front of the hands and achieves full extension of hips/knees.

Jerk: The rep begins with the barbell in the front rack position. From there, the athlete will move the barbell into the overhead position. The rep is credited when the barbell is locked out overhead, and arms, hips, and legs are extended; and the bar is over or slightly behind the center of the body, with feet in line. A press, push press, push jerk, or split jerk are all permitted as long as the required finish position is achieved.

Snatch: The rep begins with the barbell on the ground and must be lifted overhead in one motion. Touch-and-go is permitted. No bouncing or dropping and catching the barbell on the rebound. Once dropped, the barbell must settle on the ground before the athlete begins the next repetition.
